Musical! Happy Ox 09! and Japanese?

Maybe I have mentioned before.. but if not.. here it is.. I am definitely not a singer.. However.. I was fortunate enough to be cast as Frank Fan in Debaun's 2005 Fall production of Rocky Horror Picture show.. it was the first semester of my college life.. and it was a blast!!! After that on stage experience.. I shifted toward backstage.. tech crews.. selling raffle tickets (aka. the crack pusher of SDS.. because I am really good at selling tickets.. lol.. thou I am growing out of acting cutesy and asking ppl to buy tickets)..

(This is me in Rocky Horror Show)

Because I started my college life with a show.. I figure I should end it with a show too.. so I decide to audition for SDS's spring musical - Beauty and the Beast.. I did better than I thought in singing ( I sang Stepsisters' Lament from Cinderalla.. it was the search result from "what is the easist song to sing for audition".. haha ). but worst than I thought in dancing (i suck in learning choreographed dance).. However.. for some good luck and other talented ppl who perhaps turned down the role.. I was cast as Chip!! yay.. so with that.. I am making a whole circle in my college life!

Oh.. enough say.. 1/26/09 would start the year of Ox in chinese calendar.. After being in the US for long.. my family has slowly drifted away from celebrating Chinese holidays.. except the New Year!  It is the single most important holiday to Chinese! and I would certainly continue to celebrate in 2 years from now, 5 years from now.. 20, 50, till I die.. haha.. so ye.. Happy Year of Ox!!!

Also.. have fun in China.. Dad & Mom.. I am sure you would enjoy a much more authentic celebration than we would here.. hehe..

Last but not the least... I must have did something to my setting... cuz it is now in Japanese! .. weird.. but appalaus to me as I could still navigate through spaces.live.com with no problem.. I guess after all.. I am a GENUISE.. hahahhahah

(Steven Institute of Technology in New Jersey),主修商業和技術。

No Pants Subway Ride in NYC

No Pants 2k9 NYC is an annual event hosted by ImprovEverywhere (the one who did Froze Grand Central). This year marks its 8th annual event. It happened this Saturday, January 10 from 3 PM to 5:30 PM... and of course, as one of the strong supporter for ImprovEverywhere and everything fun/spontaneous, I was there!

Like the usual me, I wait till the last possible minute to leave my apartment, took the bus then path and met with everyone in Foley Square. I made it just on time at 2:59pm.. however, it wouldn't make a big difference as the actual meet/greet from Charlie didn't start till 3:15 or so.

There were over 1,000 ppl there.. ppl came alone, with friends, with parents, etc... you name it, there are all kinds of ppl....

I am the one ciricled in red! lol..

So Charlie (the AGENT of ImprovEverywhere) divided everyone into four groups by birthday by season.  I was in the Oct, Nov, December Group.. Our group was the depantsers of train #6.. we further divided to carts (10 of them on each line) by the last digit of our phone number.. mines was 8..

Each cart has a team leader... then everyone is assigned a depants statation.. for instance, one at first station, 2 at second stop, 3 at 3rd, 5 at fourth.. so on..

Funny part was that;... each of the four big groups were chanting against one another trying to see who can be the loudest.. lol.. tons of fun..

The point of this event is to act normal as if it is normal to not wear pants.. when ppl asked.. just said it is too warm (even thou it was snowing and 30 degree) or the pants got too uncomfortable..

Here are some pics of mission in action..

Some regular passengers have heard of the event before while others were clueless.. but everyone had fun.. they thought it was funny..

OVERALL.. it was a blast!!!

Here is a picture of a group of us after the ride.. we all met up at Union Square to take pictures.. We were the famous NY No Pant Rockettes... haha..

I Stronlgy enocurage ppl to do these events.. it is great fun!.. no matter how young or how old.. go for it... hehe..

I will link the video once ImprovEverywhere post it.. if you want to find out more about the missions, visit www.improveverywhere.com

He's the reason I took German

Germany is probably the third most important country in my life after China and the US for a few random reasons - I took German in High School, One of my best friend is half German, my other best took 4 years of German, and I like the stereotype German look - blond and blue eye.. since I want to make mixed baby with the potential of having blue eyes and black hair (and German DNA would probably give me the best chance).. hahah.. LMAO.. (I am a bit crazy).. hehe.. but it all started from this guy call Albert von Thurn und Taxis. The story goes... I was probably 13 or 14, freshman in high school.. One day randomly (I remember vaguely) I came across Forbes Magazine with their annual Richest Men Alive issue.. being one of the over 90% majority, I am one of those woman who day dream about marrying super rich.. but as I mentioned I was young, and I do not want anyone old (most of the billionaires were in their 40s+).. so I was searching for the youngest rich guy on the list.. and then he appeared (w/out a pic.. I think if the pic came with the article.. my life would be completely different as my fascination with Germany will go out of window)... I must be daydreaming when I read the article as half of the stuff I thought was real turn out to be not.. I think I made everything up.. Anyway.. In my mind (for the past 6 years).. I thought he was a 19 Year Old (at the time of article), self made billionaire and Hot (I assumed he was typical tall blond blue eye German guy).... Then the other day, I decided to find out what this guy's name is and what he looks like.. and this is what I found Albert von Thurn und Taxis Link --> (http://bizcream.com/albert-von-thurn-und-taxis.html) He is rich but not the perfect dream guy I imagined.... now I don't even have a dream idol.. :(((( ----------------- Update in life - Worked till 9pm today.. tired.. - Going to No Pants on Subway this weekend (another Improv Everywhere event) - School is starting next Wed - Going to the Scholarship Reception next Monday - Thanks AWIB!

Merry XMas, Turning 21, Good Bye 2008!

Before I started, I would just like to point out that I know i have tons of typos on my blog entries.. i guess i am retarded.. lol.. Anyway.. here are the updates!

Christmas 2008
December 25, 2008 marks the first ever official family Christmas celebration in my life.  As all Chinese know, Christmas is really not a holiday for us.  After all, Jesus is really not the "it" guy in most Asian religions.. hehe... However, after being here for so many years.. it is sort of the time to adapt to the wonderful gift sharing, family gathering part of this tradition.  So, that marks the official first annual family Christmas for my cousins, my brother, and I (the five of us are the ones who adopted the holiday.. our parents might take a few years)..

Buying gift was actually the most fun part. I definitely enjoyed that more than getting gifts.  I got my brother a Nintendo Ds and a nice business trench coat (about $300), brought my cousin Wei a Nintendo ds also ($140), my cousin Ying a sephora makeup combo set and a zen style small water fountain ($55), and my other cousin a Shesido skincare and the water fountain thing too ($50).. hehe... on the other hand, I also brought for my uncle and my aunt - necklace and leather glove.. even thou they didn't join us for the celebration, they were happy to get gifts.. hehe... As for my grandma, I can say she is being Americanized by us.. hehe.. she was actually the 6th member of our Christmas party.. hehe.. I got her a pearl necklace/earing set and a massage chair pad (she didn't like it and wanted to return it.. but I told her to "appreciate" what others get u.. hehe)..

As for my parents.. I didn't get them anything since they are vacationing in China...

As of me, I got pretty good gifts too - my brother got my Wii and Wii fit.. I feel bad for ruining the surpirse he had planned for me.. but I still love the gift!!! yay!! exercise everyday!!.. I also got sephora make up and skin care from my Ying an Yang (i guess great minds think alike?) and perfume set from Wei....

Beside the gifts, each one of us make a few dishes.. thanks to that popular cooking blog on yahoo.hk.com.... most of the dishes were good.. some still have rooms for improvement.. hehe.. overall.. it was great!

And of course, like any of our family gathering, it wouldn't be completed unless we finish the night off with rounds and rounds of Mah Jong..

on a side note, room mate xmas continued this year.. it almost got cancelled but we stilll pulled it together even thou Maren ended up not showing up (I was a bit pissed since she suggested the day (1/1).. but she said she had diarrheia.. can't really blame her with that.. ).. It was still great although not as great as last year.. hehe.. we were still using the $20-30 budget.. I highly suggest raising it next year.. hehe

Turing 21
I am really feeling old!!! 21 is consider the "birthday" in a lot of people's life - drinking.. partying.. and all that.. but nah.. mines was nothing like that.. It was dull.. chillax.. and nothing speciall.. i think I might come to regret not hitting it big on my 21st... now come to think about it.. I never really celebrate any of my birthday big time.. I like to plan other ppl's bday surprises but never my own.. so I guess I am always expecting others to surpirse me but it never happens.. bottom line.. I am just not a bday person.. ever since I turn 17.. every year feels like I am getting older.. It is like when I was 17.. when ppl told me I looked young.. I hated it.. and now I laugh secretly when ppl tell me I look young.. and want to punch them when they tell me I look old..

Goodbye 2008
I could honestly say 2008 is the best year in my life so far - London, Traveling, Olympics, ppl I met along the way... it was fantastic.. I am 100% not excited about the new year as I doubt it could better than 2008!  I definitely HOPE SO!!!!!!!

Oh, and thanks to all those who made 2008 a such wonderful year for me!!! xoxoxoxo

---------------------------------------------------------------

On a side note, other updates in my life

  • My friends came visited - Katie and Beck from Australia (wished I could showed them more of NYC).. and Rena from Michigan...
