2008/12/20 I Hate the New Space LIVE!!!!` UGHHHHHHHH... I was writing a whole long entry about Christmas and the new space live thing just screwed me over!!!!! .. F************ A! 2008/11/29 Thanksgiving - Discontinued TraditionLast year's Thanksgiving, we started our first annual going American turkey dinner kind of Thanksgiving festival.. well. this year the second annual did not happen. Instead, we sort went Fujianese Thanksgiving norm celebration - Heading to the casino down in Atlanctic City.
Since I am not 21, I borrowed my cousin's old expired NJ ID that no one uses anymore.. one one side, I was lucky that I didn't get IDed.. but on the other hand, I think i should be sad that I look "older".. haha..
I lost about $30 in total.. playing slot machines.. I wonder what happens to Beginner's Luck.. the first time I went to a Casino in Monaco, I lost money, and now I lost money again.. aighh.. ye.. it is stupid since the machinese are basically programmed to guarantee wins for the Casino.. but it is quite addicting.. Lesson Learned - Play with rael people next time.. lol... oh.. what made me feel better is that everyone lost.. and i was actually teh one who lost the least amount of money.. it is always better when other people are suffering with u to.. haha.. human nature.. not a perfect thing for sure.
On the side note, the Chinese Wedding went really really well.. great job to all the CSA eboard and members who helped out.. YAY.. it could definitely be a rockin event that could be repeated every year.. (hint hint my future successors)..
Pictures would be uploaded when I get them.. in the mean time, here's my school's article on it --> CSA Chinese Wedding <<-- click link 2008/11/13 中文update 挺就没用中文写博客了。。 。 。 2008/11/4 Obama vs. McCainWithout me telling you.. you should note that today, Tuesday, Nov 4th, 2008 is when the next president of US would be decided..
If you can vote, make sure you voted!
As some of you might already know, I am a democrat, I supported Clinton, Gore, Kerry and Hilary then Obama.
To be completely honest, I was bitter after Hilary lost to Obama.. and for quite a while, I was juggling the idea of whether to vote for McCain or Obama.
McCain is old, verteran, has the old person charm to him.. and he is actually very funny (see his interviews)... Obama is young, ready to make changes, and very inspiring (see his speeches)... However, I had a grudge against Obama because he beat Hilary.. although it is stupid to think that way.. but can't help it.. I am only human..
The thing that worried about me is that McCain is old, even though he is a maverick when compare to his party, he still followed a lot of policies put forth by the Republicans.. besides.. if he die, Palin would become the president.. which would be really scary.. Although I am a feminist, I would not vote for the ticket because Palin is a woman. She is clearly inexperienced.. Governor of Alaska.. wow.. that's impressive.. Alaska is like its own country in a way.. I don't think being the governor of Alaska would have prep her for the VP role..
On the other hand, Obama would certainly act differnt than the current republican runned white house... His policy for share the wealth looks appealing to me as I am not yet in the "rich income bracket". However, who knows.. 5 or more years from now.. I would probably switch to be a Republican.. hehe.. lol..
All and all.. you probably know who I voted for.. if not. wait for the result from NJ and you would..
2008/10/15 The Economy is GLOOMY!!! The economy is extremely gloomy this season, and everyone is suffering. Investors, corporations, employees, and college students. As I fall under the category of graduating college seniors, the future is not the brightest at the moment. My fear is securing a full time position when I graduate. For some odd reason, all my friends are more confident about my future than myself. Interesting huh.. hehe Fingers crossed for everyone in my position... Hopefully something will come through. 。 555.。 so sad。。。 。 。 yadiyadiah。。 。 ROCKY。。 。 2008/9/21 Arranged Marriage??? Seriously?? Is 22/23 too old?? Well.. at least in the eyes of previous generation. My aunt is already getting worry finding a suitor for my "cousin" who is only 22 or 24 in China age... (she's turning 23 in a month). But.. seriously.. its 21st Century. Without a doubt, parents' are always thinking the best for their children.. but they shouldn't apply their' generation's idealogy on us... aighh... ya.. ya.. Anyway..Her story might be a bit different as she's currently in love with someone else that the whole family disapprove.. and i have to agree.. that guy is not the best candidate and she deserves someone much better.. However... setting up arrange marriage meetings for her is not going to make things easier.. even a little kid could guess the meeting would not work.. and indeed.. it doesn't.. I know my aunt is very concern about her getting into the hand of a guy that doesn't have a "future" or "money".. sometimes.. i guess when you fall in love.. it is love.. although I have yet to experience that.. (boo ya..)... Bottom point.. give us time.. we shouldn't have to be pressured before we turn 35 or something.. the more important thing in life would be breaking barriers and those glass ceilings.. Aunt.. Mom.. Grandma.. and everyone.. please do not worry... this generation is not the same as yours.. we won't get marry at 19 and have 3 kids by the time we are 23.. we can earn money ourselves.. times even more than our partner... we could be the suitor with a "future' and "money... 2008/9/16 My little cousin KelvinKelvin, aka Chen Lin (陈林) is the youngest cousin in my family's generation... about 2 decades younger than the rest of us (cousins)..
Its not hard to tell that in the pic, the baby is our young cousin and the other three are oldie cousins..

Beijing Olympic is over.. still can't believe it.. have tons of updates need to do.. Coming Soon... 2008/8/15 A busy day!12th was a really busy day for me. I had tickets for volleyball, weightlifitng and swimming, starting from 9 in the morning till 9 at night.. with no break.. I even had to leave early from some events to catch the next one.
In the morning, I went to watch men's volleyball in BIT gymnasium two games - Germany vs Russia than Brazil vs ?. I was only there for the Germany and Russia game. It was really close. Germany was in lead but Russia came back up and won the final match - 16 vs 14. Poor germany.. i was cheering for it the whole time. I couldn't stay for the second one because I had to go catch USA men's volleyball against Italy. I was sitting in an area where most people were cheering for Italy.. but I still made my voice heard.. haha.. I am "LOUD"!!! US did win.. probably becuase I cheered really loud.. lol.. jk..
Once again, I couldn't stay for the second game, had to run stragith to women's 63 kg weightlifting... i was about 40 minutes late.. the game was almost over... I thought China would be competing in this event.. but we were not... anyway.. the game was still awesome.. people who weight 63kg or less could lift something that's double their weight.. its mind boggling.. South Korea won at the end with the last lift.. congrats to the girl.. she was really happy.. ye.. no wonder.. hehe
For swimming.. I actually had a bit time left before the game start.. when I got there.. the taxi drive dropped me off about a mile away from the main entrance so I had to walk a lot a lot.. it was a pain.. but going inside the olympic park and seeing the cube, bird nest.. it was awesome.. so pretty... the swimming was mostly for prem.. didn't see phelps cuz he was trying to conserve energy so didn't participate in the 4*200 men relay... did see China kicked ass in the women 200 butterfly.. (and they won 1 & 2 in the finals too).. pretty rocking...
Oh.. BOCOG did a really good job organizing transportation for the game.. because Beijing have really bad traffic issues.. they deicided to do even and odd driving days.. on odd days, only odd driving license plate can go.. and vice versa.. it helped a lot.. also.. if one has olympic ticket.. travel by bus and subway is free.. i am just always too lazy to wait for bus and train (and bus is really confusing)...
13th I watched badminton. it was very close in the women's single final.. Zhang Ning from china was going against Pi Hong Yan of France (she also came from China back in the day). There went all the way to the 3rd match.. and Zhang Ning won by 2.. which is really really close..
14th and 15th.. i stayed home to watch game from home.. congrats to Yang Wei for men's all around gymnastic and phelps for winning 6/8 gold..
Lastly! Don't ever trust some people when they promised u to swap tickets.. I just got screwed as he decided to back out last second.. now I won't be able to see basketball.. sigh.. 2008/8/10 Waterpolo PremYesterday was my first live olympic game - waterpolo...
The morning session had three games
--> Canada vs Spain (6:16)
I really don't know much about waterpolo, but Canada was really not that great. They hesistate a lot when aiming for the goal. It would have been better to just shoot for the goal. That's what Spain did and they won with a lot of points.
--> Montenegro vs. Hungary (10:10)
This was a hell of game all the way up till last minute. There were a lot of Hungarian and Montenegro(ians?) there to cheer for the team. I was ruling for the Montegengro because one of them brough me an orange juice.. hehe.. I think both of them are ranked really high in the waterpolo world. Basically, this match showed that live is so much better than broadcasted.
--> Serbia vs Germany (11:7)
Germany and Serbia were really close in the first half but as time goes, Germany started to lack behind. There were very few people cheering for Germany else they might have done bettter.. but who knows..
Overall, there are four periods in waterpolo, each lasts 8 minute. One of my favorite part during the event is the half time performances of different style of chinese drumming. Pretty wicked. Another part is that all waterpolo players had pretty nice bodies.. hehe.. some are old and bald.. but the younger ones have nice six-eight packs.. haha.. o_O'
The afternoon session has US and China but I didn't have any tickets. On the good side, I don't have to be in the dilemma of which team to cheer.
When I got home, I planned to take a nap from 4 to 6, but ending up sleeping till the 4am of next morning.. I am a pig..
2008/8/8 In Beijing for the Olympic Opening CeremonyOne comment - There's no other place other than being in BJ at this moment of time.
As you all know, I did not get any ticket to the actual opening cermeony in the bird nest. However, my back up plan was to view the ceremony at a big screen. Indeed, that's what I did.
I came back early from Tian Jing today as I was visiting my aunt in law (nicest person in the world) and my uncle. My friend and I met up at another friends place to get prepare. Our plan was to be a crazy sports fan. I painted my whole face - half US flag and half China flag. We gathered 5 people and decorated our hair with hair pieces that each represent a color of ring.
When we went to the location (Xi Fu Jing), we were certainly the attention graber. Many ppl requested to take photo with us (we looked really crazy). Due to popularity, we randomly decided to collect money from ppl who wish to take picture with us and donate the money to Szechuan Earthquake. I am not sure how much we made, but definitely over 1000 rmb. It was an amazing place. And of course, many tv station and newspaper interviewed us, so we are kind of a big deal now "celebrity status".. hehe.. jk
We stayed at the viewing station for the performance part of the show. To be honest, I am not in love with the olympic theme song at all. I couldn't even understand any of the english part. Anyway, we moved to a bar for the second half of the show. The part that really touched me is the final torch relay - Li Ling running in the air like walking on the moon. That was the moment I felt like - Holy Shit, its here!
After the showing, it took my friend and i forever to get home. We took the taxi but there was road block so we had to take the train. Once we got off the train, we were unable to find a taxi.. no luck even after 20+ mins. All along, we just started randomly waving at all cars coming our way. Finally, someone stop by, and we just got on (i know its a bit dangerous). The guys was really nice and so damn lucky (he got to see the ceremony life) and took us home. So, here I am, took a shower, and now blogging.
p.s Photo would be uploaded. 2008/7/28 My first Olympic TicketsSummer Intern Events: Focus | Yankee GameFor the summer internship, there are many events planned to enhance the realtionship between all interns. To be honest, they could only do much. For those competition treasure hunt ones, some teammates are just freaking idiots that don't do anything. There is this one girl who has a really high pitch voice and always complain.. can't stand her.. and I was in three team competitions with her.. gosh.. lord has no mercy.. no wonder i am agnostic..
The events included: Chelsea Pier Competition, Wall Stree Hunt, Yankee Game, Ny Botanical Garden volunteer project. The first two I already mentioned, would be so much more fun if i don;t have crazy annoying teamamte. .. Yankee game was a good experience. I am not a baseball fan, but seeing a real game is still pretty cool.. too long for my taste.. I got a bit bore and started checking out baseball players "behinds".. hehe.. the tight uniforms do show their body pretty well.. :() o_O.. The volunteer project at Botanical Garden was exhausting. Now i know how hard farmers and gardener's jobs are. I got so much cuts it is not even funny.. hehe... but I was a super woman cutting down weeds taller than me.. hehe..
2008/7/20 Wisdom Teeth Extraction = MiserableUpdated: It took me about five days to eat normal. Picture: See how swollen my right face is. My mom told me i looked better that way and encouraged me to get the normal side swollen too.. -__-'
------------------------- I got my other two wisdom teeth pulled yesterday (the right ones), and now I am feeling so miserable. Pain, throwing up, sleepy, headache.. I think that might be because the pain killer is stronger than last time.. 2008/6/29 I got Stolen $1500Never thought I would be one of those victims that got stolen money on their credit card... but you never know.. things happen.. shit happens..
Unfortunatelly, it happened to me.. and what i learn.. never say never..
so basically, I have two credit cards, one debit card... I use my citi student credit card in the US as it has a pretty ok reward system... I use my capital one card for international purchase because it doesn't charge any international fee and such... so once I got back to the US, I barely use my capital one card, except once or twice at subway when i forgot my citi card..
Anyway, last week, i got a phone call from capital one telling me that i spent over my account limit ($1500 account limit) with a total balance of $2200 or so.. i know i have about $725 ish on that card but $2200, are u f**king kidding me... and the capital one rep from India told em that they would do me a favor by not charging me any overcharge fee is i pay them right at that moment.. i thought it was a fraud.. but when i check online... yep.. someone has stolen $1500 from my account.. and the funniest thing of all, i still have teh card with me..
From the transaction details, the $1500 were mainly spend at Murphey Gas Station in NC and SC... states where I have never even step a foot on... I was able to google info on these gas stations and call each of them up to inform them about my incidence. All of said that they only accept credit card physically not over the phone.. so my only guess would be someone who has access to the credit card machine that could punch in the number would be the one that stole money from account.. which i guess might be one of the employees.. regardless.. this incidence showed me that i really need to be very careful with my credit history and constantly checking them....
the credit card company said that would do an investigation and pay the money back to my account.. hopefully soon.. because i am darn poor...
p.s Everyone, make sure you check your accounts frequently, at least twice a week or so...
2008/6/14 Future is evil! 。 我到底要什么啦???It sux to grow up。。
i really don't want to grow up。。
