。 hehe。。 2009/11/9 Free Hugs - Share the LoveI have always wanted to join the FreeHugs Campaign (http://www.freehugscampaign.org/) just to go out there, hug people you know, hug people you don't know, hug animals, hug light posts, hug anything you like. As long as it puts a smile on your face/other ppl's face and make ppl's day a little better and sweeter.. then the mission is accompished.
This past Sunday, November 8, 2009 (yesterday), a group of CS ppl met up in Union Square and gave out free hugs (this happens quite frequently, once a month or so). I was a little bit late as I was eating (yep.. eating.. ughh.. food.. !) and shopping the whole morning.. I printed out signs saying "Free Hug" with a smily face.. and just started giving out hugs to anyone who wants them... I think I probably gave out close to 100 hugs and was praised as an awesome hugger.. (not to brag or anything.. but i am a pro hugger.. hehe)..
It was super fun.. most people loved the idea while some were suspicious thinking that there is either a catch or that we are trying to pass out Swine Flu.. all and all.. many said that it is such a sweet thing to do and made their day.. yay.. I will totally do this again.. so next time u see me or another else holding a free hug sign.. don't worry.. there's no catch.. just a awesome warm and tight bear hug hoping to put a smile on ur face..
SHARE THE LOVE! SPREAD THE WORD! HUG HUG HUG!
2009/10/11 I am Alive! and promise to UpdateiIt has been almost a month since I got back and started my life in the world..
The mini trip around the world was amazing.. and definitely too too tooo tooo short.. i took tons of pictures and will definitely update soon
:) Ling 2009/6/17 RTW - June 2 to 4 Los Angeles Cost
The best part of the day was mingling with the locals. Next to the Union Station, there is a park, I am not sure if they do music gatherings every day, but I was lucky that they did on the evening of June 2. At first, there was only one lady dancing (the lady on the left of the pic).. She was definitely having fun.. I wanted to joined but was hesitating.. I get a bit of afraid to be the minority.. but then I figure.. what the hell.. it is not like anyone knows me here.. and besides.. the whole point of my trip is to have fun.. so this time.. without hesitation.. i jumped in and started dancing... song after song.. a few more people joined and I also dragged a random observers to the dance floor with me.. the music was great.. my dance was okay.. but it was a blast!!!! ![]() ![]() June 3 On the second day, I took the metro (definitely not as efficient and extensive as NYC subway) to Hollywood... visit the tourist parts of hollywood blvd.. sunset blvd.. looked the huge Hollywood sign (no pic because I got lazy)... jumped on random buses.. got lost.. changed a bus.. got more lost.. somehow found my way to Venice Beach and had a chill walk across the sand... The best part of the day is meeting an old Mexican grandpa who spoke only Spanish.. I was lost and waiting for a bus that would be going to the reverse direction.... had a body language conversation with the grandpa where I tried to tell him that I am waiting for the express bus (one goes chuuuuuuuuuuu.., not the local one where it goes chuuu.. chuu.. chuuu....).. somehow he understood me.. that was priceless! ![]() ![]() At the evening, Joe took me out to a few local bars.. one known for whisky.. forgot what it is call.. but it is in downtown LA around Art District.. they make once lovely modernized Whisky cocktail.. creamy looking.. yumm.. but expensive.. Then we went to another local bar which used to be a hangout spot for local cops.. pretty interesting environment... Overall.. LA is so familar but yet so different.. Oh.. one thing I forgot is that.. I witnessed one of the biggest fire in my life on the nigh of June 2.. not far from Joe's place is a industrial building.. somehow a fire started.. and it expanded quite rapidly.. i think fire departments from all of LA came.. it was pretty crazy... the building was 2 stories but the fire went up to about 7 stories high.. luckily no one was in that (i think).. and the fire department was able to put the fire off pretty quickly! Pilot Travel is so "gila babi (malay for crazy pig aka f**king") addicting! Ever since my study in London and traveling through Western Europe and Egypt.. I have been dreaming every other night about my next big adventure... The plan has changed quite a bit from southeast asia, africa to southeast asia, middle east and eastern europe.. reason - Africa is too expensive as I would need to go on a organied tour instead of backpack on my own.. All of the plans actually did not get finalized till about a week before I am suppose to leave... I booked the first leg of the trip a month ago from JFK to LAX to NAR to SIN.. but the rest were just scramble marks on paper and bookmarks on my mozilla firefox bookmark.. However.. once you are set or somewhat set about your route.. the actual booking takes less than an hour thanks to the lovely amazingness of the technology! Most of people around me would never think of doing a RTW... perhaps they might have imagined or thought of.. but only a few would actually do it.. Afterall, it is not a common American culture.. and definitely less common in the Chinese culture... On the other hand.. my buddies from travelling would all join me in a blink of an eye if they have time or $$$.. One thing I know for sure is that once I start to work and surrender to the real world of 9 to 6+.. I would not have the time to do a long trip.. the most consecutive break I would get is probably a week.. a month would be a dream.. 3 month would be like hitting a lottery unless I quit or get fire which neither I intend or wish to happen.. Anyhow.. back to planning this trip.. Instead of buying a RTW plane ticket.. I brought each individually from local airlines.. it ends up being about $1500 cheaper.. so you really need to dig around.. AirAsia is great for Southeast Asia.. As for packing.. roughly pack all your stuff about a month ahead.. set them aside.. revisit them and repack at least 3 days before your departure (i did it 6 hours before my departure.. bad idea).. the rule of thumb is - only take about 1/3 of what you initiatlly packed.. if you ever ask yourself whether u should bring it.. then don't! Just think about carrying it around day for day for months or even a year for those longer RTW... Logistics and Documents - passport copies.. call your credit card companies... get an Capital One.. write up a rough iterinary and give it to someone you trust... get Visas for countries that might require you to get Visas before arriving (i.e India)... get pepper spray (for girls or maybe guys).. My packing list
![]() This is a pic of my empty backpack! -------------------------------------------- June 2 Morning As I mentioned, I was stupid and end up packing the night before my flight.. so I did not sleep... and instead.. stayed up to pack the whole night.. when 6 o clock come by.. i barely finish packing.. and had to quickly say goodbye to my parents before rushing to catch the bus.. it was a rough start as I did not properly said goodbye to them.. My parents don't really support my trip as I am traveling alone and they do not see why I would want to visit the different countries.. they figured I have done enough with my Euro trip... It is a Chinese thing.. if others don't do it.. why are you doing it... I think they are just really worried about my solo trip... and it is quite costly.. even thou I am not asking them for $$$.. my brother would be sponsoring me a bit.. haha.. For those other stubborn parents out there.. support your kids.. it is okay to show concern but don't discourage them.. All I have to say is that my kids in the future would be so lucky to have a mom like me.. hahahahhahahahah... 2009/5/28 I graduated! Officially an Adult! Well at least in about 3 months Last Thursday, May 21, 2009. I walked across the the Graduation stage to receive my bachelor of science in Business and Technology with a minor in Economics, and a master of science in Global Innovation Management. Four years of hard work lead to this moment, 5 second of walk, greetings from friends and family. ![]() (Christy and I.. BFF) There's a mix of feeling upon graduation - sadness, excitement, fear, maturing, and proudness. I was sad to graduate because I am saying good bye to a lot of friends and people I have met in the past. We are going to different directions, and to be completely honest, only a few of us would remain in contact. Excitement for a new era of my life - the real adult life. Fear for future as school life is over. Maturing as I have go from someone who is still depended on parents to someone who is getting ready to carry my own weight. Proudness for what I have accomplished over the years! Ughh.. College life, it is definitely the golden four years of my life thus far. So my plans going forward. Well, I choose to start work in September so I have three months of vacation for my mini three month RTW. So.. yeye.. my last three months before becoming a real adult.. hehe. As for traveling, the original plan included 18 days in HK for the China Synergy Program, but it got cancel because of the SWINE FLU. Seriously, I know it is serious but out of all the people in the world.. a minimal number of people actually has it. What are the chances? And.. cancelling a program that is planned months in advances.. with candidates moving their summer plans in order to to attend.. it is quite devastating.. Looking at the bright side, I guess I have more time to do my own traveling even thou I have to pay myself. lol.. So.. here's the plan with only the first 3 stops set. Leaving June 2 to LAX... Then June 4 to Tokyo then june 9 to Singapore.. that's the set plan so far.. and the tentative ones or go with the flow ones include overlanding malaysia, thailand, cambodia, vietnam, laos, visitng Bali, India, Dubai, overlanding jordan to israel heading to Turkey and maybe a few more countries then back home.. its pretty aggressive but I want to see as much as I can in three months because I know once I start work.. i won't have that much chances left.. I will try to blog about my journey on the way.. so keep in tact! oh.. btw.. for those who are interested... I did not win the video competition.. :( but thanks to those who supported me.. 2009/4/20 Most Ridiculous Thing I Did for Free TravelSTA Travel is having a competition where they are giving away two RTW tickets for the best video submission of most ridiculous thing one did for free travel. Below is the video I did, hope you enjoy it .. and if you do enjoy it.. rate me and leave good comments. Thanks in advance. :) Ling 2009/4/19 Unity 2009This past Friday was Unity 2009. Unity is a competition between different ethnic organizations as they showcase a performance that reflects their culture. We have been working extremely hard for the Act since February. This past week, we had practices every night till quite late. At the end, we put on a killer show. Even thou we didn't win :(, we are winners at our own heart because we know we rocked and entertained the audience. Below is the video of our performance. Enjoy! 2009/4/10 I am Chip! For the last two month, I have been ridiculously busy. One of the contributor was being a part of Beauty and the Beast. As I mentioned before, I started my first semester at Stevens with a musical.. so I am now ending it with another. I was actually surprised when I got cast as Chip (one of the semi principles).. I was just hoping to be in the ensemble since I don't really sing and can't dance.. I just love musicals.. Anyhow.. I got cast.. had tons of rehearsal.. and had a wonderful 3 nights of show along with the rest of the cast.. we all had a blast! It was the best house we have been getting.. two almost full nights.. in total over 1050 people watched our show.. and for our small school.. its huge.. here's a pic of me as chip!.. lol. next to me is Mrs. Potts.. my mama in the show.. also my roommate.. my other roommate/best bud Christy is the Wardrobe.. I guess our whole house is just full of talented people.. lol ![]() And for this week.. I will be working Unity.. ughh.. its coming up this Friday.. we were terrible at the first rehearsal.. so there's a lot of work to be done.. But.. will keep u all updated.. hope we have a blast.. tons of fun.. and if all goes well.. perhaps win this year! Lastly.. I am in the process of making a most ridiculous thing that I would do for free traveling... I will post the video here once I shoot it and finish it.. so keep posted.. and give me 5 stars.. lol :) Ling 2009/4/2 Update coming Soon It has been ages since I updated.... primary reason - last month is crazy.. so will this month After coming back from Spring Break which was amazing (if i remember.. i will write up a summary about it).. then there's final few weeks of beauty beast rehearsal which is opening tonight at 8pm.. then there's Unity stuff.. reports due.. exams.. ughh.. hacked.. now i am back to work.. 2009/3/3 Donate Money $$$ Please?2009/2/21 Holy Shit - He/She is so PRETTY!!!Normally.. My blog are just me talking/complaining about my life.. but this time.. I have to share something with everyone.. Had to share it.. I am too SHOCKED!!!! She's more feminine/prettier than lots of real females. Below are info extracted from her facebook fan group.. Name: Nong Poy (Poy) Real Name: Treechada Petcharat Height : 171 cm Weight : 48 kg Measurement: 33 -- 24 -- 36 Awards : Miss Tiffany 2004 Miss International Queen 2004 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *Under went surgery @ age 17. He was a woman now. *A lovely & beautiful soul who had finally freed herself from a man's body. A twisted fate ...but sure God is willing to do miracles~ You think you are loving this sexy girl? Yes, she's cute and sexy. What if this girl is not a real girl and transversed from a boy? How what you think right now? Ok, she is a new half from Thailand. She is too beautiful to be a new half. She had done sex-change when she's seventeen after she noticed she's female when she's just a little boy. Her name is Treechada Petcharat and she seems to change her surname 'Petcharat' to 'Marnyaporn' in nowadays. She's nicknamed as Nong Poy and she's very talented. She has won Miss Tiffany Thailand and Miss International Queen 2004 (Miss International new-half competition). Since then, Nong Poy has become a popular model, actress, presenter, etc. and been a celebrity working in entertainment field. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Nong Poy is popular also because she didn't do any plastic surgery change on her face at all except her body of changing sex and transversed to female. That her face is the original. She behaves well in society. she's talented and smart. And that's Thai society accept new-halfs if they are good persons or bringing good fames to the country. I think it's right. What ever you are, the most important thing is to be a good person and be a good idol in the society. 。 如果不是因为这次是我的CSA(Chinese Student Association) 组办的。。 。 (hehe。。 。 2009/2/1 I think I might actually like Football (the American one just to be clear) For those of you who have just watched the 43rd annual NFL championship would probably agree that this is one of the most exciting Superbowl ever! Pittsburgh Steelers against Arizona Cardinals. Final Score 27 v 23. This is Pittsburgh's 6th win, and I think that makes them the only football with 6+ Superbowl titles.. From the beginning till 4th quarter, Steelers have been pretty much leading the way. James Harrison's 100yard history breaking interception was amazing (if you have a chance, youtube it, I am sure it would be up by tomorrow). Even a non football fan like myself was amazed and stunned and excited... I can only describe it as WOW ![]() Then the Cardinals had a huge comeback in quarter 4 and lead with a score of 23 v 20 (steelers) with only about 3 min left. And at the end, Steelers scored a touchdown and sealed the game with a final score of 27 v 23! Congrats. After watching this game, I feel like I have missing out so much.. Football does seem like a very exciting game! Once again, congrats Steels.. p.s I was ruling for Steelers instead of Cardinals because Pittsburgh is much cloers to me than Arizona.. and I will always be a east coast lady! 2009/1/24 Musical! Happy Ox 09! and Japanese?Maybe I have mentioned before.. but if not.. here it is.. I am definitely not a singer.. However.. I was fortunate enough to be cast as Frank Fan in Debaun's 2005 Fall production of Rocky Horror Picture show.. it was the first semester of my college life.. and it was a blast!!! After that on stage experience.. I shifted toward backstage.. tech crews.. selling raffle tickets (aka. the crack pusher of SDS.. because I am really good at selling tickets.. lol.. thou I am growing out of acting cutesy and asking ppl to buy tickets).. (This is me in Rocky Horror Show) ![]() Because I started my college life with a show.. I figure I should end it with a show too.. so I decide to audition for SDS's spring musical - Beauty and the Beast.. I did better than I thought in singing ( I sang Stepsisters' Lament from Cinderalla.. it was the search result from "what is the easist song to sing for audition".. haha ). but worst than I thought in dancing (i suck in learning choreographed dance).. However.. for some good luck and other talented ppl who perhaps turned down the role.. I was cast as Chip!! yay.. so with that.. I am making a whole circle in my college life! ![]() Oh.. enough say.. 1/26/09 would start the year of Ox in chinese calendar.. After being in the US for long.. my family has slowly drifted away from celebrating Chinese holidays.. except the New Year! It is the single most important holiday to Chinese! and I would certainly continue to celebrate in 2 years from now, 5 years from now.. 20, 50, till I die.. haha.. so ye.. Happy Year of Ox!!! Also.. have fun in China.. Dad & Mom.. I am sure you would enjoy a much more authentic celebration than we would here.. hehe.. Last but not the least... I must have did something to my setting... cuz it is now in Japanese! .. weird.. but appalaus to me as I could still navigate through spaces.live.com with no problem.. I guess after all.. I am a GENUISE.. hahahhahah ![]() 2009/1/17 No Pants 2k9 update - Video AttachedHere's the official video released. I was one of the 1200.. and could not find myself in this video.. lol.. but it was still a blast!!! 2009/1/13 AWIB ScholarshipBelow is a direct copy & paste from the article in World Journal.. yay.. I am in news again.. haha.. :)))

(Steven Institute of Technology in New Jersey),主修商業和技術。 ------------------------- I didn't get the actual newspaper.. but did take a screenshot of their eVersion.. hehe... be proud mom and dad. 2009/1/12 No Pants Subway Ride in NYCNo Pants 2k9 NYC is an annual event hosted by ImprovEverywhere (the one who did Froze Grand Central). This year marks its 8th annual event. It happened this Saturday, January 10 from 3 PM to 5:30 PM... and of course, as one of the strong supporter for ImprovEverywhere and everything fun/spontaneous, I was there!
Like the usual me, I wait till the last possible minute to leave my apartment, took the bus then path and met with everyone in Foley Square. I made it just on time at 2:59pm.. however, it wouldn't make a big difference as the actual meet/greet from Charlie didn't start till 3:15 or so.
There were over 1,000 ppl there.. ppl came alone, with friends, with parents, etc... you name it, there are all kinds of ppl....
I am the one ciricled in red! lol..
So Charlie (the AGENT of ImprovEverywhere) divided everyone into four groups by birthday by season. I was in the Oct, Nov, December Group.. Our group was the depantsers of train #6.. we further divided to carts (10 of them on each line) by the last digit of our phone number.. mines was 8..
Each cart has a team leader... then everyone is assigned a depants statation.. for instance, one at first station, 2 at second stop, 3 at 3rd, 5 at fourth.. so on..
Funny part was that;... each of the four big groups were chanting against one another trying to see who can be the loudest.. lol.. tons of fun..
The point of this event is to act normal as if it is normal to not wear pants.. when ppl asked.. just said it is too warm (even thou it was snowing and 30 degree) or the pants got too uncomfortable..
Here are some pics of mission in action..
Some regular passengers have heard of the event before while others were clueless.. but everyone had fun.. they thought it was funny.. OVERALL.. it was a blast!!! Here is a picture of a group of us after the ride.. we all met up at Union Square to take pictures.. We were the famous NY No Pant Rockettes... haha.. I Stronlgy enocurage ppl to do these events.. it is great fun!.. no matter how young or how old.. go for it... hehe.. I will link the video once ImprovEverywhere post it.. if you want to find out more about the missions, visit www.improveverywhere.com 2009/1/8 He's the reason I took GermanGermany is probably the third most important country in my life after China and the US for a few random reasons - I took German in High School, One of my best friend is half German, my other best took 4 years of German, and I like the stereotype German look - blond and blue eye.. since I want to make mixed baby with the potential of having blue eyes and black hair (and German DNA would probably give me the best chance).. hahah.. LMAO.. (I am a bit crazy).. hehe..
but it all started from this guy call Albert von Thurn und Taxis. The story goes...
I was probably 13 or 14, freshman in high school.. One day randomly (I remember vaguely) I came across Forbes Magazine with their annual Richest Men Alive issue.. being one of the over 90% majority, I am one of those woman who day dream about marrying super rich.. but as I mentioned I was young, and I do not want anyone old (most of the billionaires were in their 40s+).. so I was searching for the youngest rich guy on the list.. and then he appeared (w/out a pic.. I think if the pic came with the article.. my life would be completely different as my fascination with Germany will go out of window)... I must be daydreaming when I read the article as half of the stuff I thought was real turn out to be not.. I think I made everything up..
Anyway.. In my mind (for the past 6 years).. I thought he was a 19 Year Old (at the time of article), self made billionaire and Hot (I assumed he was typical tall blond blue eye German guy).... Then the other day, I decided to find out what this guy's name is and what he looks like.. and this is what I found
Albert von Thurn und Taxis
Link --> (http://bizcream.com/albert-von-thurn-und-taxis.html)
He is rich but not the perfect dream guy I imagined.... now I don't even have a dream idol.. :((((
